For over 130 years, ZIEGLER has stood for the highest quality and safety in the field of fire fighting technology. The portfolio includes a wide range of fire fighting vehicles – from portable fire engines and fire fighting vehicles to rescue and equipment vehicles.
As part of an innovative company, the development team is constantly looking for new solutions to make operating firefighting vehicles even easier and safer in an emergency – and under extreme operating conditions such as poor visibility and a high level of noise pollution.

A supplier drew attention to the multi-sound module (MSM) from miunske®. With the MSM, acoustic signals and even voice messages can be reproduced very clearly in the vehicle cabin,, so that they can still be clearly recognized even in the case of high noise levels and poor visibility.

Even the MSM without a CAN interface can play back up to eight signals from a library of 80 standard sounds at four different volumes. The version with CAN interface even enables the parameterization of up to 50 different signals/voice messages as well as stepless volume control. This aroused the interest of the ZIEGLER development team.

So they asked miunske for a starter kit and tested the multi-sound module in various fire engines. Due to the high flexibility in the design of the CAN interface, the MSM could be easily integrated into the vehicle CAN of Albert Ziegler GmbH. And the installation location in the airfield fire engine could also be chosen very flexibly. ZIEGLER decided to integrate it in the footwell of the driver’s cab, below the dashboard.

In the test, the MSM significantly improved the acoustic perception of important system sounds (indicator sounds, messages about the status of the extinguishing system) in the vehicle cabin – and thus ensures a significant increase in operating safety.

Due to the positive test experience with the starter kit provided by miunske, ZIEGLER decided to integrate the MSM into the complete series of airfield fire engines Z4, Z6 and Z8.
With the purchase, miunske also provides the ZIEGLER development team with the free miunske-toolchain parameterization interface. This allows ZIEGLER to individually adapt the signaling to its own needs.

"The Multi-Sound Module is a simple and convenient off-the-shelf solution. It allows us, with little effort, to significantly increase the operating safety of our fire trucks, which are, after all, often in operation in poor visibility and high ambient noise levels, by providing very clear and unambiguously recognizable system sounds."
