pilot® control panel series

Control panels for even more functionality in the vehicle

The pilot® control panel series from miunske offers an impressive variety of solutions for the control of commercial and special vehicles. With a wide range of variants – both with and without display – and a variety of size options, the pilot series is perfectly tailored to the requirements of a wide range of applications. The display variants not only offer a clear visualization of vehicle data, but also a perfect human-machine interaction. What particularly characterizes the control panels is their high adaptability: Customers can use the pilot configurator to design control panels exactly according to their individual requirements and needs. Equipped with a CAN interface, control panels are able to output and process an unlimited number of specific warning and operating instructions, depending on the design variant. In this blog post, we take a detailed look at the pilot series, its different variants and the wide range of customization options that enable it to be used in commercial and special vehicles as well as mobile machinery.

Extreme variance in function and design

with the modular pilot control panel concept for commercial and special vehicles

The pilot® series control panels combine the advantages of display application, keypad operation and CAN communication. The 8 standard versions consist of various combinations of control fields in standard and XL size, to which 4 or 6 bargraph LEDs can be assigned. There are also variants with an integrated display – either as a monochrome OLED or graphics-capable TFT color display.

Two display variants-for optimum visualization of vehicle information

Depending on the requirements profile, vehicle manufacturers, cabin outfitters or vehicle retrofitters can choose between pilot series control panels with OLED display or TFT display. OLED displays are recommended as monochrome displays for displaying numerical values and pictograms. Especially when high viewing angle stability and high contrast are required, the OLED display is the best solution. TFT displays, on the other hand, are ideal for displaying more complex graphics and images. Thanks to the high resolution and good color reproduction, an even greater amount of information can be displayed simultaneously. They are less vulnerable to the burn-in effect of image content, especially during longer operating times.

pilot control panel hardware and design according to customer requirements

layout und design options

The pilot control panel series from miunske offers a wide range of options for configuring the operating concept exactly to the specific requirements of each user. The options for a customized design not only concern the size or the type of display, but also a variety of functional and aesthetic features that combine to optimize operating comfort, robustness and visual communication.

1) Operating comfort and ergonomics:

pilot® control panels ensure safe operation thanks to optional XL buttons in addition to the standard-sized function buttons. Even under extreme operating conditions, such as when wearing gloves or under stress, these oversized buttons enable reliable interaction. Front foils can also be embossed to improve the haptics of the control buttons and increase intuitiveness.

2) Visualization and status indication

The pilot series offers a wide range of status indicators for the clear and versatile visualization of vehicle and system statuses. Customers have the opportunity to assign individual and vehicle or application-specific symbols/icons or texts for each control field. In addition, the color illumination of these can be realized in all RGB colors. This individual color range enables a precise differentiation of signal types and system statuses. Thanks to the large number of bar graph LEDs in unicolor and additional RGB status LEDs, the visual communication is significantly more concise and far more differentiated. A significant advantage in terms of user interaction and signal effect.

3) pilot foil design and brand identity

The option to freely design the front foil of the pilot control panel means that customers are free to create their own design in accordance to the corporate design and the specific application. Front foils are available in all CMYK colors. It is also possible to print information such as specific markings or logos. In this way, the pilot control panel becomes part of a brand identity and opens up user-friendly handling through clear labeling options.

4) Housing and connection options:

How to configurate the pilot control panel on hardware

online- simply via the pilot configurator

pilot® control panels can be easily configured by customers using the online configurator on the miunske.com website.

How this works in detail, which steps result in the desired control panel and how your request reaches our development team is explained in our pilot configurator tutorial.

Detailed information on the pilot control panel series are summarized in the product sheet.

Extrem flexibility in the field of foil design

Design and finalize the foil of the operating and control device by yourself

To ensure that customers have the greatest possible flexibility in the design and finalization of their control panels and can also respond to customer change requests at short notice, it is not only possible to purchase finalized control units, but also to take over the production of the front foil and final assembly of the control panel themselves. Detailed information on this can be found in the flyer foil customization.

How to parameterize CANopen operating and control panels

Customers who wish to configure their pilot control unit themselves and integrate it into the vehicle system can do so thanks to the CANopen communication interface.
Using suitable CANopen software, a CAN bus adapter (e.g., from PEAK), and the corresponding EDS files provided by miunske, the necessary parameters can be set. If customers need assistance with the integration process of their control unit, they are welcome to contact the development team.
