Sensor unit for measuring particle-laden streams
Research and development have a central role at miunske® – they are the basis for pioneering solutions in vehicle technology and electronics. A current example of this is the speediflow® flow sensor. The result of intensive development work and interdisciplinary cooperation, marks a completely new approach in sensor technology.Under the guiding principle of “measuring under extremes”, speediflow® was specially designed for precise, robust and reliable measurements under extreme environmental conditions. This opens up completely new application possibilities – for example in agricultural systems technology, environmental technology, ventilation and air conditioning technology as well as in wind and energy technology.This project is exemplary for future-oriented technologies and the successful combination of business, research and development – with the aim of creating practical and needs-based products.
Functional principle speediflow®
speediflow® for the first time allows the non invasive measurement of the air-flow vector based on the temperature distribution at the surface of a small ceramic plate. This is inserted into the flow flush with the wall, e.g. via outer walls or specially designed carrier housings. The measurement can be done without problems in particle-charged flows, up to the measurement as well as in the material flow. Due to the limited availability of flow measurement technology up to now only the value of the flow velocity has been measured. On the one hand, this method can lead to misinterpretations and on the other hand, it significantly limits the applicability for control circuits and automation. speediflow® instead provides the flow vector that enables the complete description of the flow field. Based on this operating principle speediflow is an important and completely new tool in the field of research and development as well as an essential sensor for the control of flow variables in e.g. harvesting machines.

Advantages of using speediflow®
measuring of flow direction and velocity
speediflow® erfasst zuverlässig die Richtung und Geschwindigkeit von partikelbeladenen Strömungen. Damit wird es möglich strömungsrelevante Größen zu erfassen und präzise zu steuern. In Prozessen, wie Reinigung, Korndurchsatz oder Lüftungssteuerung ein wertvolles Bauelement, da die erfassten Daten und die entsprechend ausgerichtete Regelungssteuerung die Effizienz der Maschine deutlich erhöhen und damit der Energieverbrauch reduziert werden kann.

speediflow® erfasst Daten insbesondere bei schwierigen Feldbedingungen mit hoher Partikeldichte, wie Staub oder Spreu. Trotz der Partikellast liefert der Sensor zuverlässig Daten zur Prozessüberwachung und –optimierung. Ein wesentlicher Baustein, um den Maschinenbetrieb transparenter zu machen.

speediflow® is designed for use in harsh environments and is mechanically resistant thanks to the selected components. This is particularly important in areas such as construction and agricultural machinery. The robust design significantly increases the lifetime of the sensor and minimizes maintenance costs.

speediflow® offers a compact design combined with high measuring performance. This allows installation in systems with limited space.
flush installation with the wall
The flush wall installation means that speediflow® does not intrude into the flow channel. This prevents flow disturbances and reduces deposits on the sensor. In this way, the sensor is protected and the measuring accuracy is maintained.

Possible applications of the speediflow®
Sensors are the basis of digital control processes for the automation of workflows. The more precise the data they provide, the better processes can be documented and evaluated based on the information collected. The knowledge gained from this data makes it possible to optimize the processes and procedures used. Possible fields of application are as follows:
